We celebrated Jimmy's 32nd birthday today! The kids were so excited to help him open his presents and to rip the wrapping paper. They weren't as excited about what was under the wrapping paper (no toys). We got ready and headed out to Mimi's Cafe for a yummy breakfast! I won't get into how many calories we ate, but it was soo good!
We didn't have anything else to do after breakfast, so drove to Dodger Stadium to be there when the gates opened. They had a Viva Los Dodgers event prior to the game and we had never gone before so decided to go see what it was all about. They had music, different booths with giveaways, and had former Dodger Derrel Thomas signing autographs. We bought Nicholas a ball and stood in line to get a picture and his autograph. His first autograph! So exciting! At the State Farm booth, they were giving away Dodger towels. We both got one, and for some reason Jimmy gave Christopher his towel. Christopher almost immediately bent down and started wiping up the water (and mud) that was on the ground in front of him. Lately, whenever you give Christopher a towel of any kind, he uses it to wipe whatever surface is in front of him at that moment. It was so funny! Thankfully, they gave us another towel.
After we did all that we could, we headed over to the stadium to watch batting practice. The kids were being so good! I was a little worried and was waiting for a meltdown, but they did amazing! We found our seats and settled in for the game. I brought the binoculars for Nicholas, and he was so cute sitting there looking through the binoculars watching the players on the field. Jimmy had bought them each a Dodger dog and I think more of them ended up on the floor than in their stomachs. Nicholas' friend Evan and his family joined us for the game, and the boys were so excited to see each other. They had bought cotton candy and Nicholas tried a little piece and it was so funny watching him. I could tell he wanted to eat it because his friend was eating it, but at the same time, I could tell he wasn't too sure about it (it must have been a texture thing). Towards the sixth inning, they had both asked to play with our phones and were sitting side by side playing Angry Birds. We stayed until the end and we won 5-4! We took the kids to the field to run the bases after, but the line was so long, that we left.
For dinner, since we were in the area, we drove to Korea town to try a new restaurant (The Boiling Crab), but they had a two and a half hour wait, insane! Instead, we drove to LA and went to Boiling Shrimp. It was so good! The kids were pretty much done at this point, so we ate as quickly as we could and left. Jimmy had entertained the idea of going to the LA Kings game since we were down there, but there is no way both kids would have been able to last. We drove home and had some cake and then called it a night! It was a long day, but we had so much fun!
