Vegas Baby!

Denica and Frank got married this weekend in Las Vegas. We drove up with Tracy, Stuart, and Kumaka (all in the same car). The actual drive wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be. We put the boys in the back and hooked up the portable dvd player and brought more than a dozen movies and toys and books to keep them occupied. We made a few stops along the way, including a stop at the Hollandburger Cafe on route 66 and the world's tallest thermometer in Baker. Once we did get to Vegas, we settled into our hotel (the Red Rock Resort) and headed off to go downtown. Jimmy had to go to see the ceiling show above Fremont Street. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, it was night and the images are different at night than they are in the day. There was a rock band playing and their images were getting projected onto the ceiling. We ventured into the Fremont to have dinner, and after we went through the smoky casino, just ended up eating at the restaurant they had there. The kids ended up staying up until 2am that night and of course neither one slept in that morning.

On Saturday, we went to Le Village Buffet at the Paris hotel on the strip, yum! Nicholas fell asleep halfway through. We didn't have time for much else after we ate, so headed back to the hotel to rest and get ready for the wedding. The wedding itself was beautiful! We had such a great time and Nicholas played with the butterflies on top of the wedding favors most of the night and was content with that.

Sunday, we packed everything up; ate breakfast at the hotel and then headed out on the long drive home. In hindsight, we should have left a lot earlier, but we were in the car for what felt like was all day.
