We went to Ridgecrest this weekend to visit Jimmy's cousin Sal and his family. It was a rough Saturday morning (I woke up with a migraine), but after vomiting in the trash can in front of our house (lovely sight for the neighbors to see) we were on our way. We brought our portable dvd player and a few movies to keep the boys happy on the long drive. The funniest part of the drive up, was when we were in the middle of the desert Nicholas had to go to the bathroom (of course) and there wasn't a gas station or rest stop in sight. Jimmy pulled over and took Nicholas out to the desert behind a bush and told him to go. Nicholas told him that that was where animals go potty and he refused to go. Surprisingly, he was able to hold it and did not have an accident.
We had fun hanging out with the cousins for the weekend. It was a very low key weekend which we don't get very often. They have a dog named Valentino (V for short) that both kids stayed away from the whole time. They liked him from afar but not up close. Valentino's "spot" was in front of the Christmas tree which was the one thing that kept Christopher away from the tree.
Nicholas and Roman had so much fun playing together and did not fight once! The funniest moment, was when I noticed that the house was unusually quiet. I went to go peak in Roman's room to see what they were up to, and they were playing in the fish tank. They had dumped the whole can of fish food in the tank and had splashed water everywhere! They were both all wet, and had gotten water all over the floor, the wall and even Roman's bed. It was a comical sight and it was so hard not to laugh. Sal had to rescue the fish from their tank and we tried to towel dry everything, but the room still smelled like fish.
At night, we put the two boys in Roman's room and put a movie on for them to watch. Jimmy and I took the guest room and set up Christopher's portable crib. Christopher refused to sleep in the portable crib. Jimmy had to rock him to sleep and then laid him on the bed once he was asleep. When we were sure that he was out, he tried to lay him back in the crib, but he woke up. So, he ended up sleeping with us. Sometime during the middle of the night, Nicholas also climbed in bed with us, so we had four people in a queen size bed, I for one did not get a good night sleep.
The next day, Sal parent's came over to visit and we hung out with them for a little bit before making the drive back home. We followed the GPS in the car to get home (big mistake) and ended up taking the long (scenic) way home.
